 Essence of Giclée Printing

Fine art reproduction that Reaches the depth and color saturation of richest originals Pure skin tones and luscious deep red lips Black and White with no Bronzing The rich colors of Van Gough reproduced with depth and vibrancy.

Making a cheap ink that most third party companies produce is not a difficult task, but making an ink that rivals and surpasses Epson, Cannon, and HP is a formidable task. We did not look at what our competitors and OEM inks looked like as a prerequisite for our Design of UltraMax II. We looked at what was needed to get the most out of a wide range of media and produced that product.

We looked at different combinations of ink to not just increase gamut, but to produce a visual perceptual brilliance.

We also focused on getting the most out of all Epson Printers and made our inks compatible with all Epson printers. We test and use our inks constantly and when we can make an improvement we don't wait.

You can choose from the widest Pallet of inks from our Photographic Series to our Symphony Series with over 20 colors.

There is an expression a customer of mine uses; "its got to have juice." UltraMax II is the juiciest, with depth and brilliance.

The OEM inks have focused mostly on gloss media falling short on other less reflective material.

Symphonic UltraMax II offers numerous benefits.

Unique Benefits of Symphonic UltraMax II:

  • It is comprised of richer pigments producing a higher saturation of colors.
  • It has higher fade resistance including Yellow allowing UltraMax II to be used not only for Giclée Art Printing, but for Signage as well.
  • No compromise in color was made to have increased longevity.
  • The inks are balanced to work in all Piezo Printers.
  • Unlike Epson Inks, all our inks are backward and sideways compatible.
  • Unlike most inks, UltraMax II does not crack on canvas when stretched.
  • Vinyl's can be formed also without cracking.

UltraMax II also offers a huge color pallet of over 23 colors to choose from and setups for 6, 7, 8, 10, and 12 colors to suite any Piezo multi-channel  printer. It is the one ink set that can run on any Piezo Epson, Mimaki, Roland, and Mutoh Printer.

New Concepts for wider gamut and greater vibrancy in an 8-Color printers, 4800, 7800, and the 9800:

After spending some time studying the color combinations of inks, I realized that adding just one more color into a four color system could have many advantages.

We had proven that we could accomplish a perfect gray scale with just one Light Black using of our Rip, Evolution. There is a special feature in the Rip designed for to perfect gray scaling. This gave me the opportunity to replace the Light Light Black with a fifth color. Clients have already remarked at the rich reds they were obtaining with our standard Photographic Inks, so I decided to increase the depth of Yellow and add Lime Green. Lime Green unlike standard Bluer Green, has superior richness and vibrancy. The result of this pallet produces cleaner color richer browns, vibrant leaves, beautiful aqua water, and glowing sunsets.

If you consider yourself a Fine Art/Photographic printer, this ink set will set a new level of Color Dynamics.

4000, 7600, and 9600:

Depth of Color: Symphonic UltraMax II Photographic for 7 color printers 4000, 7600, and 9600 offer great depth of color on all compatible media, whereas, OEM inks only excel on gloss paper. Below are just a few comments from some of our clients.

Testimonials:

Terry Schopper: "Symphonic Ink is so rich that I can produce quality prints on cheaper media that ordinarily does not produce rich or vibrant color. I do a great deal of canvas reproductions which are exceptional with the Symphony 12 ink set. These canvas reproductions do not crack when I stretch them. They did with Epson's Ink. The cost of running the Symphony 12 color ink set is lower than listed."

Stuart Penney of SMP Graphics: "My framer asked me, which printer do I use? He said my prints are richer than other reproductions we frame. The canvas reproductions do not crack like the ones from Epson."

Giles Prett, Head of Crane Paper Technical Research and Master Printer: "I placed Symphonic UltraMax II Photo ink set in my 9600 over a month ago and have not had a drop out since. The prints I made with Symphonic Ink on Museo Max are richer, brilliant, more defined with color and detail in the shadows than I have made with any other ink. Matte Black is deeper than any other ink set. There is no glazing or surface anomalies. They are just beautiful. The neutral balanced Light Black ink and the controls in Giclée Evolution yield pure Black and White prints with absolutely No Bronzing. Symphonic Inks and Evolution Giclée Rip are an unbeatable combination."

UltraMax II will dispel the stigma of third party inks. While it will save you a great deal of money and is much more wallet friendly than Epson, HP, and Canon, it is not a cheap ink. So, if you want cheap, don't call us, but if you want the best at a great price with incomparable results and the most comprehensive technical support, this is for you. Ask about our profiling support.

Ink cost per square foot: HP and Canon $1.60, Epson's price close to their cost. Symphonic ink, less than $.20.

Simple Tech Talk

Understanding how ink is used in printing will help you appreciate our ink technology.

Imagine having a powerful engine in your car. When you need to accelerate you have the power, but most of the time you 're cruising along. A good engine can save you money and give you the dynamic power you need.

Symphonic formulas are powerful like that. They are highly concentrated and offer two very special benefits, greater saturation and lower cost.

Now here is the key:

Because most every media can't absorb100 percent of each color ink (400%), the Software Driver or Rip, whether from Epson or a third party, reduces the amount of each color ink used; therefore, reducing the full potential of each color. Symphonic inks are made richer so that when they, too, are reduced they produce deep vibrant colors, but when they are not needed to produce such depth of color the amount of ink usage drops dramatically; therefore, also dropping your cost.

Where the focus has been only on 4 color inks with variations of Black Ink, we have created the most exotic pallet of colors to reach a color gamut not previously achievable. Look at our 8 and 12 color pallet. To this end, we have had special features added to our Evolution Rip to take advantage of this new approach.

Saturation and Vibrancy:

Our pigments are chosen for a number of reasons. One, is for their perceptual quality of superior reflectivity and vibrancy. Symphonic inks are highly saturated and blended to reach greater depth and vibrancy. This accomplishes greater gamut and more lifelike images.

Bronzing:

Bronzing comes from diluting standard Black Ink. As Carbon Pigment Black ink is diluted, it becomes Brownish and reflects differently than Pigment colors, which gives the appearance of what is called Bronzing. Symphonic Light Blacks are melted with special pigments to remove any effect of Bronzing. These pigments have the highest rating of light fastness, maintaining the highest standard of longevity.

Light Fastness:

Light fastness of inks directly relates to the light fastness of the pigments chosen. Each pigment has a rating from 1 to 9. Carbon Pigment Black being 9, the gage used to establish the highest longevity. Symphonic Pigments have the highest ratings and blended to enhance reflectivity and increase longevity. These inks are intended for outdoors as well as for archival keeping properties. If you have seen a red Ferrari, you will note the intensity of red as well as the fact it stays red. The choice of pigments play a significant roll in the results of Brilliance and Longevity. The weakest link in the chain has been Yellow for most companies, whereas Symphonic Yellow is uniquely manufactured from a custom blend of Long life Yellows producing richness without sacrificing longevity. You can expect to achieve well over 120 years indoors and maximum longevity in outdoor conditions. With stable high quality media, the expected life indoors can reach closer to 200 years.

Cost in Production:

Even though we have made a richer ink, the cost per square foot is far less than the OEM (printer manufacturer). Symphonic ink will reduce your cost to about 18 cents a square foot, while allowing you to produce beautifully brilliant prints.
